Introduction

Much of the data in this questionnaire will be published in the current  South Dakota International Trade Directory. Some of the data will be used in helping us understand your international operation so that we can better anticipate and serve your needs.

The directory will be published for the Governor's Office of Economic Development by the South Dakota International Business Institute in cooperation with several other major international trade promotion organizations, including the South Dakota Department of Agriculture, the South Dakota District Export Council, the U.S. Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center in Sioux Falls and the U.S. Small Business Administration District Office in Sioux Falls.

The directory will identify South Dakota exporters of manufactured products, agribusiness products, services and technologies. The revised directory will also offer an updated list of the various private companies and public agencies that are available to serve the needs of South Dakota exporters.

Purpose and Benefits

The primary purpose of the directory is to facilitate the expansion of business for South Dakota companies engaged in exporting and/or importing operations.

In terms of real benefits, the directory will . . .

• be disseminated in the United States and overseas in hard copy or electronically (Internet and floppy disc) as a means to generate trade leads.
• serve as a means in publicizing the availability of South Dakota products and services for export sale.
• facilitate the networking capability of South Dakota exporters and importers.
• better enable the international trade promotion organizations in South Dakota in directing trade and promotional opportunities to exporters and importers.
• identify the international trade-related service companies and agencies available in South Dakota and the region to assist exporters and importers.
